CHA fun!

Hey girls, Shemaine here...I'm hi-jacking the blog while Michele is at CHA ordering up some yummy stuff for future kits today. It was so great to meet Michele and her hubby. They are just the cutest couple ever. See for yourself.
At the Slice booth getting their pic with the Slice they won. Personally I'd take the scooter over the Slice but only because I already have one.

Can I just tell you all that Jesse has some serious luck mojo goin on! I mean seriously, not only did he win a Slice but 2 design cartridges and since he was so lucky I asked him to rub my ticket for the eCraft drawing, which by the way I had no idea about til they came to get me to go with them to and the first card out that they drew as the winner was MINE! Look what I won!

Oh yes it's a new eCraft! I am so excited to get this machine! It cuts 12X12 pages with no cutting mat required and it even cuts Tim Holtz's grungeboard!

So we got to walk around and check out booths and lots of new products and took some funny pics too!

Ole' (sorry Michelle I couldn't resist)

Aren't we cute

too funny huh

Ahhh and the trip wouldn't be complete without meeting the very talented and cool Tim Holtz

So that's my CHA wrap up for today. All I can tell you is that you're going to absolutely love what lies ahead for Paper Posies kits in the coming months. So tell your friends rthey better sign up quick!

'ME' in One Word Challenge

This year, for the weeks that I host the challenge, we're going to focus on ourselves! If your scrapbooks are anything like mine, they're mostly about everyone else! This year, it's time to focus a little more on us - our loves, dislikes, accomplishments, highlights, beliefs... We are going to leave a legacy that includes something about US!

So to start off the new year, your challenge is to create a layout about yourself, using ONE WORD to describe yourself. It's the 'ME in One Word Challenge.'

I'm so sorry, but my layout is 1000 miles away sitting, picture untaken, on my scrapping table. I'll try to describe to you my take on this challenge: The word I chose to describe myself was "Perfectionist." I included a small picture of myself, but a huge journaling block about why I chose the one word I did to describe myself.

Have fun with this challenge, but remember, make the focus on YOU!

Use any Paper Posies kit and complete the challenge by next Sunday night, January 31st to be eligible for the Paper Posies Prize Packet! Come on over to the MB and post your layouts there. Who knows, maybe you're layout will be featured on our blog!!!

CHA - Day # 2

WOW, today was another GREAT day at CHA. I thought I had a good time yesterday - but today was a BLAST!

SQUEAL... I got to meet Elizabeth Kartchner IN PERSON! I got to chat with her, get a picture with her and check out her BEAUTIFUL "Dear Lizzy" line she designed for American Crafts!!!! What a treat - she is not only an extremely talented and beautiful person - she is SO NICE!

I just have to tell you - I have one awesome husband. He was such a good sport today. As you can see here, he doned a lovely PINK Making Memories apron - all in the name of winning some prizes. If you got "caught" wearing the pink apron around the show floor, you were eligible for receiving prizes. Let me tell you - it paid off and he won the motherlode prize offered by Making Memories - a SLICE! That's right, a brand new slice! SO EXCITING!!!!!! That was just one of many giveaways he managed to obtain. I think there's something about a man in a pink apron that draws attention... hehehehehe!

On to a few sneaks I managed to get at the show, before the camera battery died. I was so disappointed, but don't worry - I'll get some more tomorrow.

Maya Road has some lovely new flowers this time around:

October Afternoon's Let's Fly A Kite is SO FUN in person! They have 2 new releases this time around. I just ADORE October Afternoon.

Cosmo Cricket has debuted chipboard letters for the first time - I LOVE THEM!!! They're fun and trendy - what do you think?

As always, I love their new lines. Here's one:

Well, that's it for tonight, ladies. It's way past midnight here, but I couldn't go to bed until I'd given you a little peek into my day. Hope you enjoyed!

1st day at CHA and a GIVEAWAY

This morning Jesse and I arrived at the Anaheim Convention Center about 1/2 hour before the show started and stayed until about 4 this afternoon. By the time we went back to our motel room, my legs ached, my back ached, and I was exhausted, but hey I was a happy girl with a TON of catalogs, mind full of inspiration and fun goodies from the day!

Shemaine and me, hanging out at CHA. What a blast!

Just a little disclaimer: sorry about the poor quality of the photos. I took our point and shoot instead of the SLR and between all the people, lighting, products in packaging and so on, they aren't the best, but hey, at least you get an idea!

Brand new items from Studio Calico - I'm loving these rubons!!!

KaiserCraft has some really nice lines this quarter. Here's just a little sample of one of their new lines:

Melody Ross is creating for GCD Studios. Check out some of these BEAUTIFUL goodies!!!

I am in love with all of Pink Paislee's new lines and it's so fun to meet all the people I "know" from emails and phone conversations. This year, fabric tape is a BIG hit. Here's some from Pink Paislee:

I'm so IN LOVE with all of Basic Grey's releases this year. They have TONS of new stuff - canvas pieces, the cutest little flowers they're calling cozy pozys, ribbon doilies (tape again) and much more...

Aren't theses the cutest little fabric flowers from My Little Yellow Bicycle??!!

Well, that's all the sneaks for today. Stay tuned tomorrow and I'll send you some more! I just can't even begin to tell you how beautiful everything is in person. There's lots of new stuff, some classics, some trendy - it's all beautiful! And you're going to get some of it all! The hardest part, as always, it to decide what makes the "cut" and makes it into Paper Posies kits!

I promised you all a giveaway. So here it comes! Leave me comments about the CHA posts. Let me know what you think of the new stuff. Tell me what you like, don't like, what you'd love to see in an upcoming kit, etc. Some lucky person will receive a package of CHA goodies. I PROMISE you won't be disappointed - I'm getting some GOOD stuff!!!

We're here!

Well, we are here! We flew in Friday night, decided to play tourist in LA on Saturday, and then attended the first day of CHA today. More about that shortly.

For now, here are a few pics of Jess and I, enjoying a little time together here in the SUN!

Sunglasses in January?!?! Now THAT's a treat for us Northern Idahoans!

We visited this lovely restaurant with delicious food along the coast. We sat on the third floor to dine and sat by a cozy fire. If it had been lighter, we would have been able to see the ocean - next time.

By the sea. We're going to have to make sure to go again when it's light so the pictures turn out better. It is more romantic at night, though!

What are you doing with your January kit?

I hope you all have had some time to dig into your January Paper Posies kit! I fell in love with the color combination and found the papers perfect for cardmaking. Most all of the papers were double sided, so there were plenty of options. LOVE that!

I was able to play a little with more with the kit this last week and came up with a few more cards:

The lettering on both of these cards are Jenni Bowlin alpha's that came in the October PP kit. ;) I just added a little ink, a few brads and used a few of my favorite punches.

I hope you'll stop on by the boards and show us what you've been creating lately - we always love to see your work!

Only 3 More Days... CHA, Here We Come!

Only 3 more days until DH and I leave for CHA. I am sooooooooooooooooo excited to see all the YUMMY, BRAND NEW, HOT scrappy goodness IN PERSON! I've been looking forward to this for a year. Yes, a year! We have been planning to go for what seems like forever and now it's finally almost here. STAY TUNED to the MB and BLOG because you'd better believe I'm going to keep you all in the loop!!! I'm crossing all my fingers and toes that I'll get to take pictures and then I'll post some sneaks for you all. Also stay tuned because there's going to be some giveaways. WOOO-HOOO for some goodies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to read more about me prattling on about going to CHA, come on over to the Message Board. We'd love to have you all rant and rave with the rest of us about all the NEW STUFF that YOU'RE going to see in your next several kits!!!

New Monday Challenge

Happy Monday everyone! It's Monday so you know that means it's time for a new Paper Posies challenge, right?

I'm excited to bring you my first challenge of 2010. I'm going to be doing something kinda fun each month this year. I received the new CK book, 52 More Scrapbooking Challenges for Christmas this year and all of my challenges will be coming from this book! If you have this book, you know how inspirational it is. And if you don't have it, but would like to check it out, I included a link for you to check it out at Amazon. But, you do NOT have to own this book to participate in my challenges. I'm just using it for my inspiration and will reference it for you. I will be using a different challenge from each section of the book each month.

Okay... onto the challenge!

The first set of challenges in the book are in a section titled "inspired by..." I chose the first challenge in this section to use as our first challenge. It can be found on page 11 of the book

"Get Inspired by An Outfit"

To participate in this challenge I want YOU to get inspired by an outfit. It can be something you own, the outfit pictured in the idea book, an outfit you've seen online, or even the outfit I chose for my inspirational layout.

If you can, link us to a picture of the outfit of your choosing on the MB forum and then show us your layout inspired by it! Please use a Paper Posies kit for your project. It doesn't have to be the current month's kit - any kit will do!

Post your creation on this thread by Sunday, January 24th to be entered into the monthly drawing for a fabulous Paper Posies prize!

Here's the inspirational outfit I'm using for my layout. I was shopping iwth my daughter last Spring at PacSun and saw this top and was intrigued by the colors (white, teal, dark blue with a tiny bit of green) and snapped a picture of it with my phone. I also liked the addition of a few little metal accents.

Here's my layout inspired by the top. I mainly focused on using the colors since that was what caught my eye in the first place! I pulled papers and embellies from different PP kits from the last year and added a few stash items to pull it all together. :)

I can't wait to see what you all create! Go! Get inspired by an outfit and share it with us on the Paper Posies Challenge forum.

More Inspiration from Crystal

Here's another layout from our January's Guest Designer:

Make sure you come on over to our message board, where Crystal has posted a fun "Eco-Friendly" challenge that will be running through January 17th. I hope you can join us for the fun!

Thanks, Crystal, for joining us this month!

Meet January Guest Designer, Crystal Brothers

This month it was a pleasure to have Crystal Brothers share some of her beautiful layouts with us using January's kit. Check out the Design Team Gallery here: http://www.paperposies.com/ideas.htm

I asked Crystal to share some of her favorites with us:

Favorite trimmer: This is kind of a toss up and depends on my project. If I am working on something that needs to be scored, I use my Creative Memories 12" trimmer, since it has a groove that is perfect for scoring. Otherwise I use my EK Success Cutterpede.

Favorite Scrapbooking Tool:
Hands down, my Creative Memories TitleTopia. I use the straight one on nearly every single layout. It is so handy to have and be able to place my title straight and exactly where I want it on the first try. To make your own, you can use the backing from a sheet of stickers or rub-ons, coupled with a clear transparency.

Favorite Ink:
I have recently fallen in love with Stewart Superior inks. They have great sprays, and I also love their hybrid ink pads.

Favorite Photo Developer:
Winkflash. Great quality and price. I also love that they keep my photo titles which are stamped on the back of the prints. This is a great way for me to keep up with the date of the photos, because I tend to print many pics at a time.

Favorite Scrapbook Magazine: Scrapbooks, Etc.

Favorite Patterned Paper: Are you serious? I am a total Patterned Paper addict! My absolute can't live withouts would have to be Fancy Pants, Basic Grey, and Bo Bunny.

Favorite Cardstock: American Crafts

Favorite Thing I've Created: The first thing that comes to mind is my honeymoon album. It's been long enough that already it's fun to look through and remember that time and the fun (and funny!) things that happened on the trip.

New scrapbooking goodie/trend: We are an outdoorsy family, so I love the recent trend toward nature themed products--trees, owls, birds, etc.

Scrapbooking Style: I have always struggled with how to answer this, but recently a friend called my style "clean and simple with a bit of sass" and I think that describes it pretty well :)

Why I Love Scrapbooking: It's twofold, really. I love that I can preserve my family's memories--the blessings we've had and the hard times that God has carried us through. I think it's important to remember, and we benefit from it now as well as in the future looking back. I also really love the creative outlet that scrapbooking provides. It's such a stress-relief and I love that I can share so much of myself with others through my creative efforts as well.

Best Organizational Tip: I store my papers in page protectors from the Dollar General store. They come in a package of 10 for $4, and they are about 13x12, so they will easily hold an entire collection of patterned papers. Also, rather than storing scraps separately, I store them with the matching collection so that I can easily find what I am looking for, and am more likely to use up my scraps.
